4. Conclusion

Metal nanofoams are a source of innovation for various application sectors, thanks to their bi-continuous nanoscale cellular microstructure. The main properties reported in this article are based on the unique microstructural features of nanoscale dimensions and ligament connectivity, as well as very high specific surface area (with 50% porosity). The nanocellular architecture confers high specific mechanical properties, linked to the nanometric scale, but also high mechanical strength in relation to the density of the nanofoam. While the low production rates achieved by current production methods mean that applications as structural materials cannot be envisaged, the integrity of materials in functional applications is of course essential.
