5. Applications of nanocomposites
The processes for implementing polymer matrices are currently well understood and inexpensive, and clays are easy to extract. These two factors therefore make them ideal candidates for obtaining new materials with specific properties (see table 7 ).
5.1 Barrier properties
The aim here is to be able to replace glass or technical polymers with these new materials. This mainly concerns food packaging, particularly containers for liquids. These bottles are transparent, gas-impermeable, and better at preserving flavors.
