Benoît HERVÉ-BAZIN is in charge of the Scientific Department at the French National Institute for Research and Safety (INRS – Vandœuvre).

1.1 Definition

The term "ultrafine particles" is most often used to designate particles with at least one dimension smaller than 100 nm (0.1 µm). Depending on the conditions, they can be found individualized or, on the contrary, aggregated in clusters whose size can exceed one µm. In particular, this dossier deals with low-solubility, inorganic PUFs.
