2. Risk prevention for nanomaterials

2.1 State of knowledge on nanoparticle toxicity and risk assessment

In particle toxicology and/or eco-toxicology research, effects are said to be correlated with the amount of product to which the animal or human is exposed. The greater the mass absorbed, the greater the effect. In the case of nanoparticles, it has been clearly demonstrated that the effects measured are not related to the mass of the product, thus overturning the traditional interpretation of toxicity measurements.

It has been proven that nanoparticles of equal mass are more toxic than larger products of the same chemical composition.
