6. Neutron dosimetry instrumentation
6.1 Neutron field specificity
In the workplace, in the vicinity of a neutron source (reactor, transport cask, fissile material), energetic neutrons collide with matter, producing secondary neutron and photon radiation. Under these conditions, radiation fields in the workplace are mixed fields, with neutron energy distribution and the ratio γ /n varying greatly from one point to another in the same room (figure 16 a ).
