4.1 Iterations between the initial specifications and design evolution: the “conceptual design” phase

The design process begins with a functional and structural analysis of the system to be designed. This leads to the selection of components, their technology and sizing (in orders of magnitude), as well as the system’s architecture and balance. The design is determined by the alignment between available, proven technology and the priority requirements regarding efficiency, cost, and safety.
