3. Administrative procedures and timetable

Once a site has been selected as the most suitable for a nuclear power plant, the French public authorities require a public debate to be held, focusing on the objectives and main features of the project, as well as its foreseeable implications. On the basis of a preliminary dossier, the debate is conducted by a special commission, which draws up a report. An independent national commission then draws up an assessment of the debate. These documents are forwarded to the relevant authorities for a decision on whether or not to continue the procedures.

The next step is to obtain the necessary official authorizations.
