Overview
ABSTRACT
The transport of radioactive material is a complex sector, notably due to the great diversity of the concerned products. The aspects which have to be taken into account are not only materials but also packaging , means of transportation, binding regulations and the public highway. Transport safety depends not only on the strict application of regulations and the provisions set by crisis management but in particular on the packaging itself. Its design encompasses all engineering techniques during its fabrication, operation and even end of life. All in all, the safety review of radioactive material transport is optimal.

INTRODUCTION
The transport of radioactive materials is a complex field, involving materials, packaging, means of transport, regulations and the public highway. The safety of transport relies primarily on the package itself, whose design calls on the full range of engineering techniques. Thanks to strict regulations and rigorous enforcement, the safety record for the transport of radioactive materials is excellent.
