6. Conclusion
Porous media are already omnipresent in many fields involving natural, manufactured or biological media. They play an essential role in industrial applications, energy, the environment and health. This role will remain essential in current and future developments, such as CO 2 sequestration, batteries, health (brain, bone and other biological tissues...), to name but a few examples. Effective predictive models are therefore of paramount importance. This is a complex task, given the multi-scale nature of these environments. Without exhausting the possibilities of modeling, which are the subject of a great deal of research to date, this monograph offers a corpus enabling us to tackle the essential problems involving heat transfer mechanisms in porous media: conduction, convection and radiative transfer.
