4. Example of a tool and case study

4.1 CERES platform

The CERES platform (CERES club website) aims to optimize heat recovery in industrial processes. It digitally implements the pinch method, among other methodological tools (AS WELL AS exergy analysis).

Industrial processes are described using simulation tools connected to the platform: the simulation tool used is Dymola or its open source version Open Modelica, which allows models in the Modelica language to be used. A library of process operation models and heat recovery technologies accompanies the platform.
