4. What are the purchase incentives and specific advantages?

To encourage eco-driving, the public authorities have introduced a number of subsidies to offset the cost of purchasing EFVs. Purchase subsidies are made up of :

• the ecological bonus awarded on the purchase of an EFV;

• the conversion bonus; this aid is granted in exchange for scrapping a polluting vehicle and buying an EFV;

• the abolition of the ecological penalty (vehicles that emit little or no CO ₂ are exempt from the ecological penalty);

• tax exemptions (these apply to regional registration taxes and special taxes on insurance policies).
