2. Choosing the right insulating material for your application

The choice of insulating materials depends on the thermal, mechanical and environmental constraints of the installation. Here are the main materials used, their characteristics and their conditions of use in industry and construction.

2.1 Mineral wools

  • Rockwool: widely used for its mechanical strength and high-temperature resistance (up to 700°C), it is non-combustible, offers excellent thermal and acoustic insulation, and is ideally suited to demanding industrial environments.

  • Glass wool: sturdy, lightweight and effective for thermal and acoustic insulation, it can withstand high temperatures (up to 350°C for some products). It is often preferred for heating and domestic hot water systems.
