Block; block

A parcel of undersea land granted by a country in its zone of exclusive economic interest to an oil or gas company for the purpose of exploiting its deposits.

Catenary; caténaire

Shape taken by a chain stretched under its own weight. SCRs (Steel Catenary Risers) are lines of steel tubes carrying effluent over great heights (several hundred m).

Dry tree; dry tree

Wellhead connected to a fixed or floating offshore support during production. By maintaining access to the well, the operator can intervene regularly to optimize production.

Phase envelope; phase envelope

Curve, in the pressure-temperature diagram, surrounding the area in which the liquid and vapor phases of the mixture coexist.
