2. The Sun and the Earth: thermodynamic situation, renewable energies
The Sun is a "small star" with magnitude M = 4.83, radius R S = 696,000 km and mass 1.99 × 10 30 kg. Its core, at a temperature of around 15 million degrees, is the permanent site of thermonuclear fusion reactions. The energy released is evacuated into space by electro-magnetic radiation, the spectrum of which is shown in figure 5 .
