1.1 Presentation

Insulation, or thermal insulation of industrial installations and building equipment, is the thermal (and sometimes acoustic) insulation of equipment storing or transporting hot or cold thermal fluids.

Fluids often include :

  • gases, such as hot or cold air;

  • saturated or superheated steam;

  • liquids, such as hot or cold water;

  • liquefied gases ;

  • viscous products (bitumen, etc.);

  • other chemicals.
