2. Building codes, standards and regulations

Vacuum lines are pressure equipment and therefore subject to regulations.

2.1 Regulations and standards in Europe

In Europe, vacuum lines are subject to PED 97-23-CE (Pressure Equipment Directive). The risk categories I, II and III specified in PED 97-23-CE are determined by the ratio of internal tube diameter to maximum operating pressure. Each risk category is associated with a monitoring level.

For multilines, the risk category of the line is defined by the inner tube with the highest risk category.
