7. Process control

It enables control actions to be carried out precisely and in good time. The operator can monitor machine parameter values, plot trend curves, etc. Modern small and medium-sized liquefiers and refrigerators are now always automatically controlled by a process controller, usually integrated into the cold box module for smaller machines.

A large refrigerator the size of those installed at CERN is controlled by around 40 control loops! Let's take a look at a few aspects of liquefier/fridge control.
