Hydrogen is a clean, environmentally-friendly energy carrier, provided it is produced using decarbonized processes. To develop its use, particularly in fuel cells, we need to overcome a number of technological hurdles, including the all-important issue of storage.
Today, several methods for dense storage of hydrogen in the molecular state as compressed gas at high pressure (700 bar), liquefied (– 253 °C) and solid in atomic form are being considered, but are still at the research or development stage
