1.1 Regulations and classification. Terminology

This is a vast and complex subject: it involves a large number of parameters (nature of supports, thermal insulation, slopes, protection above the waterproofing coatings, etc.), techniques and possible products (most of the various waterproofing products we have studied can be used).

The result is a very large number of possible combinations - several thousand - which are codified, as far as traditional materials are concerned, by 4 DTUs (DTU 43-1 to DTU 43-4) (cf. ).

What's more, we've seen that the modern coatings that appeared from 1975 onwards - bitumen-elastomer coatings, then membranes - are referred to as non-traditional, and are the subject of technical opinions...
