4. Sealing principles

For a slate roof to be watertight, three slates must be laid on top of each other at each point of the roof.

4.1 Vertical waterproofing

Along a bond (figure 7 ), the bevels of the side chiefs form a channel in which water, under the action of wind and capillary action, tends to run up the slate.
