6. General information on installation techniques for all coverings

We won't go into detail here, as laying techniques depend essentially on the physical (hot or cold) and chemical (bituminous, modified bitumen, plastomeric or elastomeric membranes) nature of the material, and we've already said a few words about this in the preceding paragraphs.

We will simply list below the main points to be considered for installation:

  • must the waterproofing adhere to the entire surface of the substrate (e.g. sloping roofs) or just a few points (general case of flat roofs)? (adherent, independent or semi-independent?)

  • how and where are mechanical fasteners installed?

  • is there a vapour barrier and how is it installed?

  • how is thermal insulation implemented (insulation under waterproofing or reverse...
