2. Terminology

It will essentially be limited to generalities and a brief description of window types according to their opening mode.

2.1 General

Before describing the principle behind these windows, we'd like to remind you of the variants covered by the term "window":

  • window or exterior joinery installed on the spandrel of the shell ;

  • A French window that allows passage like a door (the English terminology is "French doors");

  • fixed frames (i.e. without sash) ;

  • facade panel, i.e. a joinery assembly between slabs (of the shell), with transparent but also opaque infills; more often than not, they are required to provide a safety...
