4. Conclusion

The complete calculation of beam connections using Eurocode 3 methodologies remains a tricky business. Calculating the resistance of a connection requires determining the resistance of the various components and associating them. In addition, the Eurocode requires justification of the modelling hypothesis used, i.e. embedment for bolted end plate connections and articulation for bolted web angles. For bolted end plate connections, it is necessary to justify that the initial rotational stiffness of the connection is sufficient. In the case of web angle connections, the rotation of the connection must remain below a limit value.
