4. Conclusion

Relatively precise developments have been given in this article to enable limit state design of isostatic or continuous composite T-beams for buildings, when these beams include a partial concrete cover between the steel footings. These developments fully comply with the principles and application rules of EN 1994-1-1, its National Annex and the other ENs referred to in EN 1994-1-1. The case of composite T-beams with open webs has been dealt with in the form of recommended rules for safe dimensioning, drafted in accordance with the principles of Eurocode 4. The application of these various rules is intended to be relatively easy and operational, at least for the usual cases of building beams, as the two calculation examples discussed at the end of the article seek to demonstrate.
