3. Cracking

3.1 General

The purpose of the verification is to ensure that the maximum calculated crack opening (w k ) does not exceed a limit (w max ) that depends on the nature and purpose of the structure, and the cost resulting from this limitation.

Note :

In the absence of specific requirements (e.g. watertightness), the recommended values of w max adopted by the National Annex for the various exposure classes are as follows are subject to a quasi-permanent combination of loads:

  • 0.4 mm for classes X0 and XC1 ;
