This paragraph is largely based on the detailed rules of the old German standard DIN 1045.

1.1 General

The rules given below assume that the requirements for encapsulation are met. They do not apply in the case of dynamic loading caused by seismic forces, machine vibration or impact loads, nor in the case of epoxy-coated or galvanized bars.
