3. General conclusion
FRP or PRF composite materials combine thermoset or thermoplastic polymer matrices with textile fibers of glass, carbon, aramid or balsate origin. Their mechanical properties, and in particular their tensile strength, or specific strength or stiffness (ratio of strength or modulus of elasticity to density), are particularly high compared with steel. The physico-chemical stability of polymer matrices and the excellent fatigue resistance of fibers make it possible to design reinforcement for reinforced concrete, as well as more durable and lighter cables and stays for engineering structures.
Construction applications are becoming more and more numerous, particularly for structures built in particularly harsh environmental conditions (marine environment).
