4. Critical elastic buckling loads

4.1 Under elementary loads

Under the conditions described above, the mean plane, initially assumed to be plane, remains rigorously plane until the load reaches the critical state, under which the plate is in indifferent equilibrium. The fundamental trajectory ends at the equilibrium bifurcation point and is extended by a trajectory in the deformed (warped) state.
