4. Conclusion

Prestressed concrete is now widely used in all construction sectors. Although the concept of prestressing can be implemented by a wide variety of means, concrete prestressing is exclusively carried out using tensioned cables. This technique is highly flexible and can be adapted to all types of structures and all construction conditions. After discussing the principles of prestressing and the rules governing design and calculation, we move on to materials, products, equipment and installation techniques.

We then analyzed and quantified the various phenomena that influence prestressing reinforcement tension. This gives us all the tools we need to design, dimension and verify a prestressed concrete structure.

These aspects are discussed in detail in the articles in this section. To find out more
