4. Automated analytical measurement

In the laboratory, it is of interest only to central control or monitoring bodies, which receive large numbers of samples. For a reduced number of daily measurements, the interest rapidly diminishes, due to the start-up inertia required by the precise recalibration required each time.

Automatic analysis covers a privileged field of application in resource monitoring or in the semi-continuous control of results obtained at the various stages of a treatment plant.

Initially, specific electrodes manufactured in small series gave great hope, but led to constant setbacks due to their measurement drift and rapid fouling in field operation. This led to the development of relatively sophisticated equipment which automatically reconditions the electrodes between two measurements or short series of measurements.
