Assembly: all the processes used to join panels (i.e. strips and/or sheets) to form a watertight seal.
Bentonite: a variety of clay with very low permeability.
Composite waterproofing: waterproofing consisting of a geomembrane and a low-permeability mineral layer (clay or bentonite geocomposite).
Geocomposite: geosynthetic made up of an assembly of several components, at least one of which is a geosynthetic.
Bentonite geocomposite: a geosynthetic composed of a layer of bentonite combined with one or more geotextiles (or sometimes a geomembrane).
