6.1 Thermal hydrolysis

The advantages of thermal hydrolysis include:

  • a reduction in the volume required for digestion;

  • greater elimination of organic matter accompanied by increased biogas production;

  • MS content of dewatered sludge up to 4-8%;

  • sludge hygienization made possible by the thermal hydrolysis process.
