5. Conclusion

Understanding and manipulating objects is becoming a prerequisite for a successful BIM project. To enable efficient exchanges, all tools must be based on dictionaries:

  • structured according to prEN ISO 23386 ;

  • providing object models (systems and units) and their associated properties.

Work is underway to set up this type of dictionary at national and international level.

Software platforms are beginning to appear on the market that can be used to parameterize generic objects according to the specific requirements of a project.
