1.1 Raising the height of existing buildings
Raising the height of existing buildings is a recurrent practice in rehabilitation, to which steel construction offers many advantages. Highly flexible in its application, it offers a variety of solutions for this task.
Metal systems are up to five times lighter than masonry or concrete, and around twice as light as wood. Beam and column dimensions, as well as floor thicknesses, are reduced in metal constructions, making them more adaptable to the many different situations inherited from existing structures.
