7. Alert

7.1 Warning signal

The alert signal is triggered by order of the Prime Minister, or the Minister responsible for Civil Security, or the State representative in the département (or region, if several départements are involved) or the mayor as the competent police authority.

The national alert signal consists of three successive broadcasts, each lasting one minute and separated by intervals of five seconds, of a sound modulated in amplitude or frequency (figure 6 ).
