5. Energy labels

Previously, energy performance labels, HPE (Haute Performance Énergétique) and THPE (Très Haute Performance Énergétique), were associated with thermal regulations, as was the case for RT 2005. They were used to promote energy performance results that exceeded the basic requirements of thermal regulations, by 10% (HPE) or 20% (THPE) respectively.

Since the implementation of RT 2012, the public authorities have not renewed the promulgation of these labels. From now on, ambitious owners and developers who want to enhance the performance of their buildings, going beyond the requirements of thermal regulations, can opt for the Effinergie+ label. The Effinergie+ label sets higher standards for the quality of the building envelope, overall thermal performance (– 20%) and air tightness.
