Coefficient de comportement (q); behaviour factor

Factor introduced into seismic analysis to reduce calculated forces by taking into account the energy dissipation capacity of a structure.

Ductility; ductility

The ability of a material or structure to deform plastically before breaking, essential for absorbing the energy of dynamic loads, especially seismic loads.

Efforts sismiques; seismic loads

Dynamic loads generated by ground movements during an earthquake, affecting structures both horizontally and vertically.

Etat limite de service (ELS); service limit state

Condition guaranteeing the functionality, comfort and durability of a structure, without excessive deformation or cracking.
