3. Boiler room power supply

3.1 Fuel oil supply

When the power of the generator(s) exceeds 85 kW, the volumes of fuel oil stored become significant, often exceeding 1,500 L. In such cases, the Order of June 23rd 1978 stipulates that :

  • a quick-acting fuel cut-off device located outside the boiler room;

  • a second valve on the fuel feed pipe close to the boiler. This police valve is mandatory if the stored volume exceeds 1,500 L.

Figure 16 shows the connection principle for a storage tank. As a general rule :
