 INTRODUCTION

The installation of new or replacement boiler rooms is subject to strict regulations. Depending on the power of the heating equipment, the premises must be designed with precise characteristics in mind: location, construction materials, ventilation and fire safety. Smoke evacuation systems are also subject to regulations, depending on the fuel used and the materials used to build the flues. The latter is covered more specifically in article [TBA 2 680] .

The main text governing boiler room regulations is the decree of June 23, 1978 on fixed installations for heating and domestic hot water supply in residential buildings, offices or premises open to the public. This decree applies to "all new installations in new buildings and old buildings", but does not concern "new installations in old buildings intended to replace internal installations [...] when they lead to major property transformations".
