4. Normative approach

The reference texts are set out in European standard NF EN 806, which specifies the requirements and provides recommendations for the design, sizing and installation of drinking water systems inside buildings and pipes outside buildings, within property limits. It applies to new installations, modifications and repairs.

These include the standard NF EN 806-2 November 2005 Spécifications techniques relatives aux installations pour l'eau destinée à la consommation humaine à l'intérieur des bâtiments – Part 2: Design.

This standard is complemented by NF EN 12056 on gravity drainage systems inside buildings for wastewater and rainwater.
