2. Protective equipment regulations

Before going any further in this article, it might be useful to define certain words and expressions.

– Security: the ability, to a greater or lesser degree, of a lock to resist attempts to open it by means other than its key.

– Safety: a situation in which someone or something is not exposed to any danger or risk, particularly of physical aggression, accidents, theft or damage.

In other words, for a person or material asset to be secure, security techniques or equipment must be implemented. Furthermore, for a place to be secure, the occupant must take all physical or electronic measures to delay or prevent an individual from entering the premises. All these measures are governed by rules and standards laid down by official or professional bodies.
