6. Glossary

ADEME(Agence de la transition écologique) ;

Public body in charge of ecology, energy and sustainable development. Its main aim is to help companies, local authorities, public authorities and private individuals make the "energy transition".

Aerobic(reaction) ;

Action of bacteria requiring a supply of oxygen. Organic matter is converted into carbon (in the form of carbon dioxide – CO ₂ ).

Anaerobic(reaction) ;

Bacterial action without oxygen.

Non-collective sanitation (ANC) ;

Sanitation of buildings (houses, apartments, etc.) not connected to a public wastewater collection network.

Sludge ;

Accumulated solid residues formed...
