1. Variable speed control with fixed supply frequency

There are two ways of varying the speed of an asynchronous machine without altering the stator frequency. The first involves varying the amplitude of the stator voltage, while the second involves modifying the equivalent impedance of the rotor. They correspond respectively to the dimmer and the hyposynchronous cascade.
