2.1 Resonance principle

We first assume that Maxwell's forces do not vary along the machine axis, and can therefore only excite bending modes in the stator plate/frame structure, which can be likened to an orthotropic cylindrical shell . Rolling and pressing of the laminations tend to give rise only to purely radial modes
