3. Conclusion

Finite element calculation methods are increasingly becoming an integral part of the tools used by the engineer responsible for dimensioning synchronous machines. The ever-increasing power of computer hardware means that these tools are constantly being improved. The main areas of development are as follows:

  • taking into account variable rotor speed by introducing the mechanical equations of the shaft line ;

  • study of the resynchronization of the alternator on the network after elimination of a fault ;

  • modeling the frequency and power regulation of an alternator, and studying its stability on the network;

  • calculation of induced currents and rotor pole surface losses ;

  • step-by-step modeling of a rotating diode...
