5. Battery formats

Given the wide range of applications for which batteries have been considered, the technologies that have been developed are equally diverse. To give you an overview of these technologies, we're going to review them and describe their main features.

Stacks come in a wide variety of formats, depending on the equipment for which they are intended. However, in the interests of rationalization and economies of scale, several of these formats have become standard. For microsystems, these are "button" batteries, for portable systems they are cylindrical formats (R6, R12, R14, R20) (table 4 ), while for larger batteries, the formats are more at the integrator's request: prismatic, Volta stacking, etc.
