2. Physical properties of conduction electrons

We're focusing on the different physical properties of charge carriers. While electrons are responsible for electrical transport under the effect of an external electric field, they are also at the origin of various physical properties of importance in solids (Hall effect, thermoelectric effect), particularly when an external magnetic field or temperature difference is applied. These properties may be responsible for modifying the laws of electrical conduction we have seen so far. It is therefore important to become acquainted with them in order to get a complete picture of conduction in solids.
