2. From PV0 to its final version PVF: virtual prototyping
PV0 is the initial device which is supposed to meet the requirements of the specifications on which its sizing is based. To verify this, it is necessary to evaluate its performance for the function(s) it is intended to perform. If it meets all the requirements in an optimal way, we move straight on to the manufacturing specifications stage. But this is highly unlikely.
More generally, starting from this first prototype, an iterative process is implemented to make modifications and/or adaptations until the Final Virtual Prototype (FVP) is achieved, which meets all the requirements of the specifications. This iterative process is an important aspect of the CAD process. Indeed, modifications to any given prototype size are made on the basis of the performance evaluation, which gives indications as to the choices to be made.
