3. Electrification of materials
The term static electrification is used to designate all processes, sometimes fortuitous, leading to the separation of positive and negative electrical charges. These are generally mechanical actions such as contact, friction or impact between solid surfaces, or between a solid surface and a liquid surface. It can also involve the breaking or splitting of a solid or liquid surface. Here, we will focus on the first two phenomena.
