4. Classification of installations according to voltage
In France, the structures or installations fall within the following four voltage ranges (in rms values for alternating current):
very low voltage (VLV): structures or installations for which the nominal voltage is not more than 50 V for alternating current or 120 V for smooth direct current;
low voltage (LV): structures or installations for which the nominal voltage exceeds 50 V without exceeding 1,000 V in alternating current or exceeds 120 V without exceeding 1,500 V in direct current ;
High voltage A (HTA): structures or installations for which the nominal voltage value exceeds 1,000 V without exceeding 50,000 V in alternating current or exceeds 1,500 V without exceeding 75,000 V in direct current ;
